Read any good books lately?

Next week we'll be here...
for our annual beach trip.
Anyone read any good books I can pick up before I leave. I don't really like cheesy, Shopaholic type books... but I'm no Kafka fan either. Last year my beach book was The History of Love, which I LOVED! I also loved her husband's book Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.
I want something like these! I need help! What have you read? Give me some suggestions.
My departure date is quickly approaching!

I fell in love with David McCullough and how he tells the stories of US History through the people that lived it. My favorite is John Adams, but 1776 is also REALLY good!

For deep thinker books, have you read Atlas Shrugged? Some people have issues with Ayn Rand being an atheist, but the book tells an intriguing story. It is a pretty long book though.

One of my favorites is Jennifer Weiner Little Earthquakes.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you want to barrow any of these.

I never appreciated the classics I read in HS, so on my last beach trip, I grabbed a few and reread them. Made a world of difference.

A few favs were:
God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater~K. Vonnegut
A Death in the Family~J. Agee
To Kill a Mockingbird~H. Lee
The Great Gatsby~F.S. Fitzgerald

Oh and pass on the names of what you read. I'm looking for something other than children's books.

Just got back from a trip out west and spent some time reading. I love anything by Jodi Picoult or Anita Shreve.

While on vacay- I read The Dive from Clausen's Pier by Ann Packer and Time is a River by Mary Alice Monroe. Really enjoyed both books.

Also just finished A Tree Grows in Brooklyn- hadn't read it in years and was fun to read again.

Ooooh - Jodi Picoult is really good my favorites of hers are 19 Minutes and My sisters Keeper.

And I like Kelly's taste in books too. Two of my favorite books of all time is to Kill a Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby! I get something new out of them each time I pick them up.
